About the department
Students in the VCUarts Department of Music pursue studies as music educators, instrumental and vocal soloists, opera singers, chamber musicians and more. VCUarts Music has outstanding opportunities for you whether you want to refine your abilities on a specific instrument, learn the best techniques for teaching tomorrow’s musicians, collaborate with other skilled chamber or jazz musicians, or make music a foundation for other career goals.
Bachelor of Music in Performance
Expand performance and entrepreneurial skills, and develop public performance practice while preparing to enter the competitive music performance career marketplace.
Bachelor of Music in Music Education
Develop teaching skills and techniques in preparation for a career as a certified music educator in either choral or instrumental music classrooms in Virginia.
Bachelor of Arts in Music
Combine substantial study of music with another field in preparation for interdisciplinary careers such as music production, music business, arts management, and more.
Music Minor
Any VCU student can continue to broaden their knowledge and skills in music while studying another field.
